Three years into her career as a legal secretary, Lori‑Ann found her passion for cycling and speed. Her goal? To represent Canada and win gold at the Olympics.

On her journey to winning Olympic gold, she had to overcome numerous challenges, injuries, and self-doubt, along with being 38 years old, working full-time, and racing against competitors half her age. Living on a shoestring budget she gave up a regular paycheque to chase her Olympic dream. In Athens, Greece, birthplace of the Olympics, she made the history books by becoming the first Canadian to win an Olympic gold medal in cycling.
