Spare Tire Along For The Ride
1,888 RIDERS took to the roads and raised a record breaking $7.3 MILLION DOLLARS for the Alberta Cancer Foundation on the last weekend of June!
After Opening Ceremonies we rode into two perfect cycling days of Alberta blue skies and green rolling hills. At the end of Day 1 we crested the very last hill to a magnificent view of over 950 blue tents situated at picturesque Chain Lakes Provincial Parks where we camped out under the stars.
Inspiration to continue cycling was drawn from seeing bicycles donned with the cancer survivor yellow flags ride into camp on Day 1 and over the Spruce Meadows’ finish line on Day 2.
Courage and motivation take on many forms. On a good day riding 100km can be demanding, let alone cycling two days of 100km back to back. Team Unleashed had one of their cyclists put out a fundraising challenge by adding 1kg of weight for every $100 donated by his fellow employees. The result had him hauling a “spare tire” of 16kg (35lb) the entire 220km of The Ride! Talk about creating a buzz that lasted the entire weekend and had everyone on the lookout for the cyclist from Team Unleashed!

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer.
